In 1913, Signe Aurell moved from Sweden to Minneapolis. She stayed for seven years before moving back to Sweden. While in the US, she published poetry, essays, and translations, joining a thriving community of Swedish immigrants involved in a variety of social movements. In this joint presentation, Dr. Marcus Cederström incorporates Signe Aurell’s story into a broader discussion on migration and finding (and creating) a home, with enhancing music by Tjärnblom
and singer/songwriter Diane Jarvi, performing songs with lyrics by Signe Aurell and tunes from Swedish America. |
